A feasibility and concept design study for the extensive remodel and extension of a period villa in Richmond upon Thames, within a designated Conservation Area. Working around a mature protected tree that sat at the heart of the site, V+D developed a series of design options exploring different scales of intervention — from restrained to ambitious — each modelled and visualised to allow the client to make informed decisions. The preferred scheme removes poor-quality later additions and introduces a generous L-shaped extension with a glazed link, a new side wing, and a fully reconfigured interior, all composed to respect the character of the original house whilst delivering a genuinely transformed family home.
