Barcelona Apartment
Barcelona, Spain
2025
Renovation of a two-bedroom apartment in the Poble Sec neighbourhood of Barcelona. The existing flat was constrained and dated, with poor natural light reaching the central living spaces. Rather than pursuing structural complexity, V+D identified a series of quiet, precise interventions: a redistribution of rooms to improve spatial logic, the revelation of an original Catalan vaulted ceiling that had been concealed for decades, a new clerestory window to draw daylight deeper into the plan, and textured semi-opaque sidelights to the bedroom pocket doors that allow light to filter through the apartment whilst maintaining privacy. The result is a home that feels genuinely transformed — proof that the simplest solutions are often the most effective.
